Brief Guide to Develop Skills for Writing Essay

Writing skills are often inherited but can be mastered too! Even if you’re not gifted with in-born writing skills, you can improve them by reading and understanding the basic guidelines. This is exactly the objective behind crafting this blog article.

Introductions and Conclusions
These two aspects of any essay are the most influential and important parts. They create a conceptual roadmap that the reader requires to understand your arguments and ideas. It is advisable to keep your reader in mind when framing the beginning and ending of your essay.

What could be the most interesting aspect to start with to draw the reader’s attention in and encourage them to read your essay and follow the entire argument?

What,in the end, do you want to convey as the major message to your readers?

First of all, you need to find answers to these two questions!

The best introductions and conclusions should convey to the reader exactly what they need to know to understand the main message of the body of the essay. It should be attractive and conveyed in a simple manner.

Writing Your Introduction
The introduction should cover the what/why/how questions. Tell your reader that you are aware of the issues raised by the queries and that you are only going to emphasise one or two issues in detail and, of course, why you have selected these specific aspects.

Conclusion
A conclusion should summarise the essence of the journey and allow people to reflect on where they have been.

You will need to conclude the main points of your argument, relate these points back to the question, and display the answer you have concluded.

Your conclusion should give your readers a clear picture of your main argument, and also convince them of your ideas.

Drafting the Main Body
The main body of your essay should talk about the arguments you have streamlined in your introduction. You need to fuse your own ideas with your research and critical analysis.

Don’t stretch your argument out too long, making it boring. Organise your pieces into three or four groups of relevant arguments to maintain the coherence and relevance of the argument.

Pen each paragraph like a mini-essay with its own introductory sentence and a unique concluding line. Keep the argument to the point and brief, avoiding any unwanted information. It will make your writing informative as well as interesting!

Kickstart and Keep Going
If you've planned what you want to write, you must have a good idea of what you are going to cover in your essay. Although it may not make it easier to start essay writing, it can help you to visualise a roadmap of your piece.

If you often get stuck when writing your essay, it could be due to a lack of clarity about what your main focus is.  Under these circumstances, you should take a step back and try to explain what you want to say.

If you like to spend ages crafting perfect sentences, its better write a rough draft just to get all your ideas down on paper. Don’t worry about the right choice of words or sentence structure at this stage. You can reframe all these after putting down all the points on paper.

To start with, you should have a clear understanding and plan in your mind what you want to convey through your essay and how you can do that. The rest of the process will automatically fall into place!
